The Iowa State Lottery
One of many US lotteries to be a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) the Iowa Lottery is run by the state’s government with its games administered by the MUSL. Games included in the Iowa Lottery’s portfolio include Mega Millions, Powerball, Pick 3 DAY, Pick 3 EVE, Pick 4 DAY, Pick 4 EVE, Cash Game. The Iowa Lottery has been running since 1985.
A huge prize of $241 million remains the largest recorded jackpot in Iowa. It was a single jackpot ticket in June 2012’s Powerball draw. A syndicate of 20 cereal factory workers won the prize, choosing the cash option of $160 million.
Profits from the Iowa Lottery have raised billions of dollars to state programmes aiming to benefit Iowans. Funding has, over the years, been used to: create new recreation areas, support research at the state’s public universities, benefit veterans, develop new products and techniques for agriculture, and promote tourism.
