The California State Lottery
The California state has had a relatively short life in the lottery game. It was not until 1984 when a vote of 58% passed the California State Lottery act which saw the birth of the first lottery in the Golden State.
The CA lottery has awarded over $27 billion to lotto winners since the 80’s and at least 34% of all revenue is passed to public education.
The state was also slow to pick up the countrywide lottery draws with the Mega Millions becoming available in 2005 and only just accepting ticket purchases for the Powerball at the start of 2013. The introduction to the Powerball has seen the jackpots of late rocket to new highs.
California also offers a number of state only lotteries such as the Daily 3, Daily 4, Daily Derby, Fantasy 5, and the SuperLotto Plus as well as scratch cards.
