The South Dakota Lottery is run by the stat’s government and like many others in the US, is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association. This means that amongst other things, South Dakota’s branch also provides national lottery games for its residents.
South Dakota’s Lottery runs a number of games as part of the commission, including; Mega Millions, Powerball, Hot Lotto, Video Lottery, Dakota Cash and Wild Card2.
Two draws that are exclusive to North Dakota are Wild Card2 and Dakota Dash. In Wild Card2 lets you pick your own wild card, and you get two plays for $1. Jackpots start at $200,000 and rolls over until there is a winner, In Dakota Cash you pick five numbers from 1 to 35 and prizes are given for getting two numbers and up. The Jackpots start at $20,000.
The lottery in South Dakota was founded in 1987 after a state referendum the previous year voted to establish a lottery commission and the sale of tickets. The games survived protracted legal challenges attempting to curb its running, particularly with video gaming, but these failed to be ratified.
