Established in 1974, the Rhode Island Lottery is run by the government of Rhode Island. The Lottery, which is the largest voluntary source of income for the state, is a charter member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL).

Players must be at least 18 years of age to play Rhode Island Lottery games, which include the multi-state Powerball and Mega Millions draws as well as games such as Daily Numbers, Wild Money, Lucky for Life, Keno, Bingo and Million Dollar Raffle.

For the 2010 financial year the Lottery generated sales of $702m, rising to $723m in 2011 and $777m in 2013. In 2010 a total of $344m of that financial year’s revenue went to the state, including the State General Fund and Distressed Communities relief fund, with that figure rising to $354m in 2011 and $378m in 2012.
