California causes Powerball jackpot rise
It has been reported that California could be the cause for the Powerball jackpot to be rising rapidly.
Just two weeks ago the west coast state joined the Powerball lottery and it set a record of selling $8,408,180 in tickets in just the first week.
Of course, more sales mean faster growth of jackpots but this is an all-time record for any new state joining the lottery.
California holds around 12% of the United States population and is just one of the 43 states that take part in the Powerball draw.
Chuck Strutt, director of the Multi-State Lottery Association believes that in the long term the jackpot will stay around the same amount but will grow quicker than ever before.
However, when the jackpots hit the $200 million region and the public sale increases that extra 12% of the population could see jackpots hit a dizzy $600 million in the future.
